Is the federal solar tax credit still available?

The federal tax credits changed at the end of 2025. The federal residential tax credit, which allowed homeowners to deduct 30% of their solar installation costs, expired for new residential purchases on December 31, 2025. If you installed before that date, your credit is still valid.

The commercial Investment Tax Credit remains in place at 30%, with qualifying deadlines that extend into 2027. Oregon’s Energy Trust incentives also remain available and are worth factoring into your decision.

The financial case for solar has shifted, but it hasn’t disappeared. It’s worth a direct conversation about what incentives actually apply to your situation right now.
